Get answers to common questions about Chest IPL.
Most clients require six to eight sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart. Exact numbers vary with hair thickness, growth cycles, and skin tone. Your technician will evaluate your chest hair and recommend a personalized treatment plan for optimal permanent reduction.
IPL offers long-term hair reduction for most people, but results depend on hair color and skin contrast. Darker hair and lighter skin respond best. Newer devices work across more tones, but a consultation will determine expected permanence for your chest hair.
Yes, IPL is safe when performed by trained technicians. Most clients feel mild warmth or a snapping sensation. We use cooling and can apply topical numbing if needed. Temporary redness or sensitivity can occur but typically resolves quickly.
Shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before your session; this preserves the follicle while removing surface hair. Do not wax, pluck, or use hair removal creams for several weeks prior, as those remove follicles needed for IPL targeting.
Side effects are usually minimal: temporary redness, mild swelling, or slight tingling. Rarely blistering or pigment changes occur. There is little to no downtime; avoid sun exposure and follow aftercare instructions to reduce risk and support healing.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before and after treatment. Clean, shave, and avoid topical retinoids pre-appointment. Post-treatment, use sunscreen, gentle moisturizer, avoid hot baths and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours, and follow follow-up scheduling.
