Get answers to common questions about Chin IPL.
Most clients require 6–8 sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for substantial, permanent reduction. Results vary by hair color, skin tone, and hair cycle. Coarser chin hair sometimes needs additional treatments; occasional maintenance sessions may be recommended.
Yes — with appropriate device settings and experienced providers, IPL can be safe for many darker skin tones. We perform a consultation and patch test to minimize risk. For very dark skin, we may recommend laser alternatives better suited for melanin-rich skin.
Most clients report mild snapping or warming sensations during treatment, similar to a rubber band flick. We use built-in cooling and can apply topical numbing for sensitive clients. Discomfort is brief and typically well tolerated without prolonged pain.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for two weeks, discontinue retinoids and bleaching creams as advised, and do not wax or pluck. Shave the chin 24–48 hours before your appointment so the light targets follicles. Bring health history and medications list.
After treatment, protect the area with broad-spectrum SPF 30+, avoid direct sun exposure and saunas for at least 48–72 hours, and skip harsh exfoliation or plucking. Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers; treated hairs will shed over days to weeks.
Some clients notice hair thinning and reduced regrowth after the first one or two sessions, but meaningful, permanent reduction usually appears after the full series of treatments. Results continue to improve between sessions as follicles become inactive.
